Shoutcast, Stream U’r Station
Shoutcast, salah satu dari sekian banyak freeware untuk keperluan live audio streaming. Sangat mudah instalasinya, tentunya dengan beberapa keterbatasan yang ada, salah satunya adalah delay time dari sumber ke hasil streaming. Panjang pendek delay time diantaranya dipengaruhi oleh nilai encoding (xxkbps, xx.xxxkHz, Mono), kinerja komputer source dan tentunya kualitas koneksi internet antara sumber suara sampai ke pendengar. Semakin besar nilai encoding akan semakin pendek nilai delay time, tapi akan memerlukan bandwidth internet yang extra besar pula.
Dari beberapa jenis software streaming yang pernah saya coba, delay time masih dikisaran 30 detik keatas pada encoding (kompresi) 128kbps keatas… Jika delay time yang diinginkan kurang dari 1detik dengan kompresi dibawah 64kbps saya sarankan untuk tidak memakai streaming berbasis sofware PC. Gunakanlah Streaming Hardware saja deh.. Banyak tuh, semacem IP Radio gitu. Tapi ya emang mahal.
Disini saya ingin berbagi sedikit tentang penggunaan Shoutcast pada sisi SOURCE (sumber suara). Untuk mempermudah, saya gunakan Winamp + shoutcast-dsp-1-8-2b-windows.exe sebagai Source. Sedangkan untuk sisi server bisa digunakan Shoutcast under Linux ataupun Windows.
Setelah kita install “shoutcast-dsp-1-8-2b-windows.exe”, jalankan Winamp lalu buka “Options” - “Preferences”. Pada bagian “Plug-ins” masuk di opsi “DSP/Effect” pilih “Nullsoft SHOUTcast DSP v….” sehingga akan muncul jendela baru “SHOUTcast Source”.
Gambar diatas menunjukkan SHOUTcast Source pada tabs “Input”. Pilih “Input Device”, jika dipilih Souncard Input maka suara yang ditransmisi adalah tergantung setting Record Soundcard Mixer (lewat command prompt ketik > SNDVOL32 -R). Jika dipilih input “Winamp” maka yang distreaming adalah apa yang kita putar di Winamp tersebut.
Masuk pada tabs “Encoder”, seperti gambar berikut;
Disini terdapat Encoder 1 ~ 5. Berarti dalam satu Winamp bisa mentransmisi 5 Source sekaligus ke 1~5 server tujuan.Encoder Settings, pilih yang terendah jika koneksi internet Anda terbatas.
Kemudian pada tabs “Output”, untuk mempermudah pilih nomor Output sesuai nomor Encoder yang kita pilih tadi. Pada tabs Connection, masukkan IP Address dimana server SHOUTcast berada berikut Port dan Password sesuai konfigurasi SHOUTcast Server.Pilih Nomor Encoder seperti diatas tadi.
Klik tabs “Yellowpages…. Untuk apa ya ini…????
Jika kita masuk ke situs Shoutcast, disitu akan kita dapatkan beberapa Stasiun Radio Online dari berbagai Negara. Dan kita bisa menjadi salah satunya.
Maka dari itu lengkapi beberapa opsi dihalaman ini.
Selain untuk keperluan pendataan otomatis, info tersebut juga digunakan pada player disisi pendengar. Misal pendengar memakai Windows Media Player, disitu akan muncul nama Radio sesuai “Description” yang diisikan.
Jika semua sudah terisi, dan Server sudah aktif, tinggal kita coba “Connect”. Lebih baik lagi jika “Connect at Startup” ditandai supaya bisa otomatis saat Winamp dijalankan.
Sebagai tanda Source Anda diterima oleh Server, pada bagian “Status” akan menunjukkan jumlah data yang di”Sent”.
Sangat mudah bukan……
Bagi kebanyakan kita biasanya kendala ada pada sisi server. Kenapa…???? Karena meskipun kita punya sambungan internet, unlimited sekalipun, belum tentu kita memiliki fix IP Public.
Pengguna internet dialup maupun share connection bisa dipastikan IP public yang dimilikinya dinamik, berubah-ubah setiap kali kita re-dial saat terjadi koneksi putus.
Ada juga penyedia free SHOUTcast server, itupun jika setiap kita connect dan disconnect kemudian connect lagi, IP yang kita dapat selalu berubah juga.
Lalu apa masalahnya buat kita…???? Ibarat dalam pesawat radio, IP public disini bisa diibaratkan Frekwensi Pemancar Radio kita. jika frekwensi-nya berubah/pindah2 jelas pendengar harus mencari2 dulu kan..??
